Why did a mother with 2 year old NOT EVACUATE?!?! Were they not told rescues would not be done until it was safe to do so?

I guess some people truly feel they can ride it out. Or they are afraid of looters. But if you have children, at least get them to safely.
-
Looters vs life?? But I hear you.

Why the hell didn't these people leave in the first place! Thank God these wonderful rescue teams are there to help, putting their life in danger for people who didn't follow directions!!!!!!

It's almost like they didn't know a storm was coming.

It's easy to question why some didn't leave when told to....however we have to realize that some don't have the finances/resources to pack up and go
#empathy -
There were several shelters and transportation to shelters available to those who had no where to go. Not only do they put themselves at danger they put others at risk to save them now.
-
I wasn't aware of that...thx

Some people just don't listen when they are told to leave 4 days before the storm hit putting everyone in danger who rescue them

You took up space on a rescue boat to film a man standing in a storm while he tells us not to stand in storm? Naww

I live in Eastern NC. If you’re told to get out, do so! However, your crew is taking up space in a rescue boat? Shameful isn’t strong enough

Gosh if they’d only told people to evacuate and given them almost a week to do so...now they can put other people in danger too! There was a REASON they told you to evacuate. Wow.
-
Exactly! Thank you!!
-
Also—everyone who complained they couldn’t leave for whatever reason, well gee, you’re leaving now—so I guess you •could• leave, hm?
-
Well I’m in SC upstate! But if I were near the coast, you bet I would of!! I would find a way especially since I have a child! Her safety comes first!! They had vehicles and places for anyone who needed help evacuating! I’m just hoping we get through whatever is coming !!

Sigh. Too bad they didn't know this was coming. Governor should have issued a mandatory evacuation order. Oh, wait....

What I’d like to know is the networks interviewed lots of people that were staying and I am wondering how those people made out… How about the guy who is on the new Bern river? Staying on the boat
