I pray not!

15 years (which in Texas will parole out at 6 years) justice was not served
-
i’m glad it’s at least a step forward

Right at the very least

It's also Texas. A cop has not been found guilty of murder in 47 years in that state. Bigger than you think.

Since this picked up some, let me clarify from the source: 'It's the first time in 45 years that a Texas officer was found guilty of murder for a shooting while on duty.'https://www.npr.org/2018/08/29/642871617/former-police-officer-guilty-of-murder-in-texas-teens-death …

Strange how this seems to happen more in the US and not much in Canada...https://reason.com/blog/2018/02/01/cops-raid-house-kill-72-year-old-woman-w …

Actually not strange at all. Amerikkka purposefully ignores its accountability for killing black bodies with impunity. The history extends back hundreds and hundreds of years. Don’t be fooled. It’s nothing new.

We are aware of it, I was kinda making a point of that actually.

I appreciate the response and the original post. I wish I knew more like you. So many are woefully and willfully ignorant these days it seems.

Good, bad people need to go to prison, especially those who accept the responsibility of public service.
-
Yep! Murderers need to be behind bars, no matter who they are. I’m actually surprised to see this verdict in Texas, hopefully the sentencing will be adequate for the crime committed.
-
I like following stories like this. Typically when the evidence for a conviction is there, public servants get stiffer sentences than regular folks. That's how it should be.

Thank God you were found guilty of MURDER you scum. An unarmed black kid. I am so sick of this. Somehow, former Texas police officer, you think you have the right to take a life because you feel like it. No motive, except that this kid was black. Who do you think you are? KILLER!
