He already did the condom thing on 2010, and he has been more progressive on gay issues than his predecessors. But he is fighting against centuries of catholic teachings in his church and himself

Yes in the most part. You are assuming that it is easy to break from centuries of societal brain washing. In the face of that reality then I am ok with a "leader" that chooses to lead them in a good path

Well, we all agree that slavery is no longer acceptable. How long did that take you to agree to? Yes, it is easy to break from centuries of societal brainwashing, as an intelligent individual. The church chooses to make it difficult.

well people did not wake up one day and said "you know what? slavery is bad" It started as a movement where more and more people started talking about it to the point they eventually overturned. There were wars over it. It was not easy

Does this apply to those this church deems as heretics? Or just those the court rules as violent offenders? I have to ask because this church killed millions, handed down the death penalty because they didn't believe what they teach.

He said "all cases" so yea, I guess so.

But that could just be court cases. Language and semantics. And all that I have read so far points to court cases and this is troubling to me.
