Really? One woman #dies in #NJ due to lack of power while #4645 died during and after #hurricane #Maria and where is the #coverage? I'm not a #trumpsuporter but I'm beginning to think that you are not reporting the real issues.

Bring out some serious law suit
-
Lawsuit for what? Like the article said they made several attempts to correct the account and there was no indication of a medical device being used. If you simply tell the company that you have a medical device then they can’t cut your power.
-
You have to provide a letter from the doctor to them. Without written documentation on file the utility can turn you off for non payment. It has to be updated every 6 months. I know this as I have a medical condition.
-
As does my mother, electric oxygen concentrator, and a tank for backup.
-
Yes. You should always have a backup manual tank. Even hospitals have back up generators then back up manual machines in case of outages.

The utility company was never notified of the medical condition, even after multiple letters that the power would be shut off. I feel very bad the lady died, but why didn't the family step in to help and at least communicate with the utility company?
-
The electric oxygen tank was the scapegoat. The patsy in this issue. Just an excuse & a sword to keep her electricity turned on & still expecting to not pay any electric bills for as long as she can before it went to collections. The oxygen tank was just an excuse not to pay up.
-
When they delivered oxygen for my mom, which was plugged into outlet, they also delivered a full tank that didn't need electricity.
-
Yeah, but I bet your mom stayed on top of her electric bills & didn't let the bill(s) get delinquent or get shut off like this foolish ass lady over here did. That is the difference between that foolish woman & your responsible mom.

Sad story, but if I had a medical device that relied on power I would have a big battery on standby for when the power goes out.
-
And simply tell the company, as they can’t cut power of you have a medical device.

This is sad, but I’ve never heard of an electrically powered oxygen tank.
-
Most for the home
-
It's not a tank persay. It's an oxygen concentrator. Tanks only last a few hours depending on flow rate. Concentrators last, and consume power and filter cartridges...

The lack of human compassion on this thread is just downright shocking and dissapointing.. But to be expected, considering most of the vitriol is coming from whites.

I’m white. I’m not offended by what he said because it’s kind of true.

Race is brought up by a black guy..... shocking. Her family should be ashamed, letting her fall so far behind putting her at risk.
-
White person not understanding that there are an immense number of racist white folk. Shocker.
-
Immense amount of ignorant shameful white folk apologizing for shit they had nothing to do with in order to make themselves feel sympathetic and progressive.

Immense amount of ignorant shameful white folk blind to everything going on in the world.
-
Yeah..... you're wrong.... and racist. What do you say to the Africans that still promote and have slavery?
