I work for Statue Cruises & we are the company that runs from Liberty Island & Ellis Island. Over 20,000 people purchased tickets hoping to visit today, the birthday of America, & only 4,500 got to. This woman ruined many family trips/memories. There are other ways to protest.

I think it’s atrocious to charge a fee for people to visit a gift that was given to us but...pic.twitter.com/i0kb1bfG0l

I mean, if you have a boat or can swim to the island thats about a mile off the coast. Go for it
The $18 ticket goes to the crew that takes you there so we can feed our families :) -
It’s not about you. It’s about the grand scheme of capitalism. So you yourself made $396,000 today? No. Someone else is filling their pockets off of this while you and your crew mates do all the work. It’s gross.
-
You do know that every day we have to refuel boats (thats not free) and we have 8 boats in total. Then theres the whole docking at a marina. That is not free not cheap Then we have to pay for out spot at both battery park and liberty state park.
-
Obviously. It’s a business. All businesses have expenses. But I’m sure those expenses don’t equate to hundreds of thousands of dollars every day and my original point still stands. Someone is capitalizing off of this and that’s what’s appalling.
-
Katie, how much does it cost a day for the business you own?
-
Once I add up my props, programs, equipment, etc... probably around $65/ day on a rough guess. But I don’t do daily expenses. I do quarterly when I file my business tax.

Its not a rescue...its damage control...nothing is wasted..ahe made a good point that probably could save more money for programs like training cops...cultural sensitivity courses for white moms calling the cops on kids...etc etc
-
Pretty much what we were talking about

Protest is patriotic. And this issue is important.https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/3/19/17116980/ice-abolish-immigration-arrest-deport …
-
Breaking the law is not patriotic and this is not a legal form of protest!
-
Tell that to the African Americans of the 60's who "broke the law" when they wanted to drink from certain water fountains or to vote. You gonna send them a bill for breaking the law?

Foolish woman, you want to change things: become a lawyer, run for office, volunteer, etc.
-
What a foolish comment! Sometimes you have to make a bold stance! Are you even paying attention to what's going on at the border?
-
Who doesn’t know what’s going on at the boarder. That’s all you see on the news. I fail to see how her action today changed anything for anyone, except her. She wasted people’s time and now she’s going to jail.
-
Yes but have you seen what's going on at the "border" and what's going on at the other "boarder?"
-
I see you got my point about the border.
