I am ashamed that Malta, our country, known for much better things, has taken this stance #humanlifeaboveall

I am not ashamed of my country. I am proud of our stand and thank God for that. You pity 600 stranded on a ship, while knowing that millions are prepared to do likewise in Libya.
-
I can’t do anything about Libya but I certainly can help these. Does this justify killing? Which in effect is what this will result in
-
Suddenly I recognized you. The one who would do anything to destabilize your own country. How are your protests going, Rachel? You defo need those 600 to fill up a square
-
Why are you so quick to assume that these people trying to flee a destabilized country are trying to destabilize yours? Does it have anything to do with their skin color? Maybe their religion? What do you know about these people?
-
Well, you probably did not get my point as it was not addressed to you. However, yes ,600 people out of the blues tend to create a problem in a 300sq mile country, unless they all come specifically to work and contribute.
-
So do four people hiding their corruption. Give me 600 people who need help over people receiving kickbacks every day

Why you lying
@cnn? These mugrants were picked up from Libyan waters very close to shore. That is not saving them...that is trafficking them. Malta is already overcrowded, our rent went up by about 300% we need less ppl here not more. Tunisia is the closest port of call -
Your last sentence needs to be repeated over and over again. If these boats were to be directed to Tunisia, in short time none would be leaving. As long as they come to EU - Italy or Malta, they will continue coming and people will continue dying.
-
Yes exactly. Ppl should retweet this over and over. Coz these news outlets cnn, guardian & co out here lying through their teeth!! Very clear to see that Italy and Malta cannot take anymore immigrants. Why Nort African countries not willing to help?
-
Id be glad if we even paid Tunisia good money for it. If the boats wont reach EU in short time they will stop coming. Or establish camps there where we will bring them as Australia has in Nauru and PNG. Both states receive good compensation for its hosting and it worked.

It is high time for Africans to be proud of their homelands so as to avoid this kind of humilitiation. Nobody can treat you badly when you are in your homeland. Why are they leaving their homes for abroad???
-
Exactly when I hear and read TV interviews of immigrants saying they have no where to go to yet they came from somewhere beats me
-
They should stop this nonsense! I always hear the news on TV about illegal African immigrants being caught sealing from their homes for abroad.
#There is no better life outside your home -
Exactly and these people pay thousands of dollars to get to Europe. Money which many people don't have.
-
They are stupid. They need that money for investment in their native soil
-
Instead of rushing to be judgmental and call those who risk their lives for a better future “stupid” think for a moment the conditions on the ground that have forced them to embark on that course in the first place.
-
We are not calling them stupid but "economic immigrants"
-
No, you said that what they’re doing is nonsensical/
