Why? Sounds like another money making scheme for insurers

High fat, low fiber diets in our society increase risk of colon cancer at younger age plus other factors. Plenty of scientific research showing that colon cancer is getting more common with younger population. Early detection is key for positive outcome.
-
And yes. Finding cancer earlier and therefore not having to pay for cancer treatment WOULD save insurance companies money which is why insurance companies generally cover preventive care. So yeah. Good job I guess.

Probably good advice but insurers generally will not pay if you are under 50 - unless the test finds something. Which is ridiculous bc if you knew in advance it wouldn’t find anything, you wouldn’t need the test!

If so, my husband would still be here. 50 is too late to start screening.

My father died at 55 from colon cancer, but go ahead Tweeters, make your butt jokes & giggle. I'm almost that age, have insurance, but can't afford deductible & my 20%. Where are the *affordable* preventative screenings?!?
#CancerCanFckOff -
How high is your deductible?

I just cried on the phone with my insurance rep, srsly. Our family got new insurance thru husbands work at the beginning of the year. I knew it cost more but didn't check into the benefits too hard, which i can only blame on my 'i expect nothing' attitude towards healthcare...

Wow, I’m so sorry if I upset you!
-
No dear, i cried bc your question led me to ask questions & i found out good news.
-
Well then I’m glad you have some peace of mind now!

Agree with this. I waited too late. Diagnosed with colorectal cancer in October. Doctor said tumor had been growing for probably five years. I'm paying the price for procrastination now. Don't wait. The colonoscopy is painless and you'll be glad you went. The younger the better!

I agree. I@went at 50 and was fine but in hindsight I should have booked it at 45. It was actually a relaxing experience.
