Second, it's my late FIL's birthday. I never knew him, but without him, the three dearest people in the world would never have been born -- so that's existentially important!

Today is a special occasion four times over. First, the date 02/02/2020 is a palindrome any way you slice it (month first, day first, etc.). This has not happened since 11/11/1111 and won't happen again till 03/03/3030!

I’ve been working on this—my first feature—for months. It’s the story of one family, split in half for no reason by Border Patrol. It’s also a story of how completely US border policy has changed in past yr. Lemme (ahem) explain. 1/

While I'm on the subject, a reminder to the manatee reviewer () of 's book that SOME of us are dying to know what goes on in there. I take Thomas Nagel's "What Is It Like to Be a Bat?" and raise you "What Is It Like to Be a Manatee?"

I can't recommend this book highly enough. Maybe if enough people read it the world will begin to change? Thanks for sending me a copy.
