No masks required in Maryland as of tomorrow. Yet people who got vaccinated on the very first day of open eligibility in MD would not be fully protected yet. Why not wait to give people who want to get vaccinated a chance?https://www.baltimoresun.com/coronavirus/bs-md-hogan-masks-friday-20210514-jgw7bvj2qbcnlnczn4xwz6beda-story.html …

Same with Oregon. It was incredibly hard to get appointments until recently. I just got my second shot a few days ago. I feel like all of this is too soon.

Some people vaccinated at their first opportunity haven't even gotten their second shots yet.

This is happening all over. Apparently North Carolina just made a similar announcement. Surely a more gradual transition would have been the wiser course of action.

Absolutely. All the NPI‘s should’ve actually been strengthened to give the vaccination program the best chance of success and give people a reasonable amount of time to get educated and get vaccinated. I think the middle of July would have been an appropriate goal date.

☝️💯 But then that would be too much progress. And if there's one thing we know, it's that this is a virus that usually won't let you make more than just a little collective progress before it finds a way to knock you right back on your ass.

Has CDC published the scientific basis for this decision yet? Can't find it.

I had "pure joy" today; I visit a friend's shop every two weeks and for a YEAR, we were both wearing masks and unable to have a conversation. So not we are both fully vaccinated, and the mask mandate in our city was lifted. And we were able to talk! For 15 minutes, no mask!

What kind of mask were you wearing that made you unable to talk????

Mask mandates do not prevent conversations....
