The super broken part is that "TTL" isn't a real thing. There isn't a "polling frequency" for this data - it's always the same, until it changes, and then it's instantaneously different. TTL is _always_ going to be broken as a model.

Are you talking about something that is lesser-known and specific about DNS? Because TTL doesn't imply polling. And in DNS it's just a cache time expiration, nothing else.
