What Peter Thiel did to Gawker Media—and to freedom of the press—is shameful and unforgivable. Gawker pushed boundaries and angered people, but it had solid principles. Its existence was good for the world. It’d be wickedly absurd if Thiel wins the auction for Gawker’s archive.

Yeah I never suggested getting rid of civil liability, but being able to use it as a weapon (in cases that aren't connected to you) is clearly not the system working as intended.
