I've used both. Hover lets you register a greater variety of silly TLDs. Also Hover's UI for adjusting DNS stuff was better (IIRC Google required you to do it through eNom with a username/pw they auto-generated). Google's fine though.

I used godaddy to get mine but i think that is australia only. Pretty good.

I have used joker in the past, which worked very well for me. Easy DNS configuration stuff, just to throw another one in there.
