The lifeblood - the hamsters, the kids, will stick with through thick and thin, I think. The people you mean are leaving are from different cloth.

I guess majority of twitter users prefer it this way. For me twitter is still the best way to find out interesting new programming stuff daily. There's some noise, but it's not that bad.

Twitter's been great for me lately. However, someone with an opinionated blog probably attracts a lot of opinionated people. So I can see how it can get tiresome.

I don’t get the vitriol because A) Nobody knows anything I’ve done and B) Most of my followers are bots and/or don’t interact with me. I hope the devs I follow don’t all leave because Twitter is my source to all of you.

Mixed feelings... Yes, it's stupid & wasteful to get angry about where a game falls on a list. (It's usually stupid & wasteful to get angry about games, full stop.)

But I also see people on this site who really ought to be heard. For example, this thread: https://twitter.com/MiaSteinberg/status/957317457458348032 … That's an important perspective, and If I weren't on twitter, I don't know where I would encounter it in my day-to-day life.

Well, obvious stuff: it's a tool, you can use it in a lot of ways. The whole dopamine, followers/likes, shitbag thing is probably social relations and humanity, with the grease of bits. It can get shitty faster, but it's also easier to control: unfollow and block aren't there irl
