I have the exact opposite experience? Every time I boot up the A2000 here, I feel like 2017 computing is hopeless :/

I don't remember the Amiga 500 being that unreliable... your 30% figure makes me think some hw part (or disks) have degraded too much.

it runs 100% once the game is loaded. There may be unreliability in the floppy emulator we’re using, of course… but my old A500 was the same

I don't remember any unreliably of the _computing_ though - like when I used my Amiga to program. Games had nutso stuff, that is true.

I mean those were the days of disk read copy protection so, plus the slow/fast RAM dichotomy, etc...

But everyday I programmed and it was always just so, and it never forced me to update, and everything was accessible to the programmer, etc.
