Yeah, Mint is not "Ubuntu based" - they are _both_ Debian-based. Actual Ubuntu requires Ubuntu accounts for their default package GUI, etc.

Mint does not require these things. Unfortunately, Mint also isn't as reliable an install as Ubuntu, and often fails on Optimus installs :(

So although I guess there are probably some things Mint pulls from Ubuntu, it avoids the bad (accounts, etc.) _and_ the good (Optimus, etc.)

and therefore i thought it was just as reliable, also supporting uefi. but since i run pretty "popular" consumer hardware, i can't rly tell
