      Do you understand why the React model is so important? It opens up the world to your imagination.https://twitter.com/ntulswani/status/895368933783490560 …

      Is it React's model or just an idea of a DSL, in a world where many things are build out of trees, that could be interpreted accordingly?

      I'm glad you brought that up. You're right. There's nothing new about react that game devs/immediate mode rendering hasn't done for years.

      Out of interest, why did you mention immediate mode rendering? Isn't React more like retained mode?

      Intermediate Mode, afai understood @cmuratori is about *API*. The actual implementation can retain and cache things.

      Here's the difference: * Immediate: this is how my UI should look like based on state * Retained: I create a button, add it to view…

      API can be immediate from a programmer's perspective, but perform retain-mode like calls underneath, e.g. `componentDidMount` feature/hack 🙂

      Yes. My original conceptualization of IMGUI is simply that the interface to the library _appears_ immediate. It does not matter if it _is_.

      It is an API design paradigm, not an implementation paradigm. You can even wrap an RMGUI in an IMGUI (and that's what web ones do!)

          Totally agree with both of you! I follow same reasoning.

          So I would argue, (p)react favors immediate mode: if(state) return <Component/> vs state.onChange = show(new Component())
