If they fire the memo author, they'll be sued by the memo author. If they don't, they'll be sued by someone(s) offended by the memo.

I don't think it was a very hard decision though. With the pending Dept. of Labor lawsuit it was this or get pilloried by public opinion.

You really don't want to know all the things that can happen in the US legal system. Suing is different from winning, mind you...

... and these things can be jury trials and highly variable. It's not a great system but it's what we've got to work with :/

It's never good when we treat others as idiots because they disagree with us rather than people with life experiences different from our own
