What are you talking about? Linux doesn't even have DirectInput so you don't need to detect XInput vs. DirectInput.

This is not about detecting the _gamepad_, it's about detecting which API Windows decided to use for the gamepad!

The fact that the triggers shares axis. But installing a specialized driver fixed it.

So maybe it is a hardware issue, and Microsoft couldn't bother doing it properly, while someone did more for Linux.
