I could say "here I parsed this!" by just giving you a big AST that had only one node type.
So you _didn't_ parse the input into the correct AST tree, you produced a temp tree.

Now a _second_ parser has to come along and parse _that_ tree into the _real_ tree.

This is not the same thing as just marking up the right tree with more information!

Most compilers take multiple passes to establish "correct" meaning.

So they don't even have the notion of the "right" tree. They are progressively refined or transformed.
