Or they don't use the Unicode APIs, so they can't get long paths.
yeah, I guess that might be true. Time to create some Pull Requests :D
minwindef.h does define MAX_PATH as 260. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27680647/does-max-path-issue-still-exists-in-windows-10 … There are work arounds but it exists in 10.
As hopefully you saw above, MAX_PATH is the problem here. You shouldn't use it for user-facing files.
I use max path so I can copy paths via stack instead of worrying about memory allocation. Am I a bad person?
