@rygorous "Lock free" should be reserved for algorithms which do not require locking at any level, including the CPU core / caches.
@rygorous Again, I really just want more specific terminology, though. Like, does an algorithm require atomic read-modify-write or not.

@cmuratori My point is that an atomic RMW in a write-back cached setting does not require any machinery you don't already need for a write. -
