Not 1080p yet, but here is the video of the massive speed win just from copying an inline function into a loop:https://youtu.be/1CVmlnhgT3g?t=3113 …

@cmuratori We did not have time to investigate it fully but it looks like the compiler was able to mod the loop once the inlines were gone.

@cmuratori So, yeah, "zero cost abstraction" isn't even true in the case of inline functions that do nothing but cast or multiply numbers.

@timrlaw But the function is a one-line inline function? Why would IPO even be involved? There is only one procedure in both cases!!

@timrlaw We only have one compilation unit.

@timrlaw Is this thing on? TESTING TESTING... 1... 2... OK, let's try again: "We only have one compilation unit."

@timrlaw But yeah, I don't disagree we should try turning it on. Maybe they accidentally turn off some same-unit opts if it is off.

@rjobling @cmuratori 2012. Hm. Noticed this a while ago by accident, maybe it was a special header file? In that case, ignore what I said.

@rjobling @rygorous @cmuratori Try using dvec.h for the operator overloading. At least MSDN says they are there. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/kcwz153a(v=vs.90).aspx …
