@cmuratori Dell, won't deceive!? isn't a reverse bonus for a new monitor at gcard on HDMI... ain't a driver config that unleashs fullHD?
ARGH! So it looks like the problem is actually with Dell monitors - they sometimes don't support full res over HDMI, but don't list that???

@cmuratori I've read that it's possible to get around this with some hackery - http://www.notebookcheck.net/2560x1440-or-2560x1600-via-HDMI.92840.0.html … I haven't tried this myself, though. -
@AndrewJDR Really? I assumed the monitor itself just didn't work because it was 1920x1080-only over HDMI? - Show replies

@cmuratori bandwidth limitation of the hdmi spec your laptop and or the display supports. -
@camelfarmer Supposedly, none of those three are actually the case here. The laptop, the spec, and the monitor all support the bandwidth. - Show replies

@cmuratori can't you use displayport? -
@mmustapic I don't think so? This laptop doesn't have DisplayPort, only HDMI.

@cmuratori Not sure if that's the problem, but it depends on the HDMI cable you're using (and the endpoint devices). -
@rygorous I was just going off what Dell customer service said. But I also see people saying that if you override the EDID, it works? - Show replies
