Like, THIS IS A POOL ALLOCATOR. You just implemented your own memory allocator. Why are we still arguing about this?pic.twitter.com/9Riieh3ZsO
I'm worried that the baby thinks people can't change.

@cmuratori cause people dont realize how its virtually zero effort to manage your own memory if they've only used GC languages
@tylerglaiel It's certainly less effort than all these "how to stop the garbage collection from fucking you" things that I'm reading!
@cmuratori ive used both GC and unmanaged languages, same effort on both regarding paying attention to memory usage
@tylerglaiel @cmuratori What's thoughts on unhookable GC as a profiling tool in non-production code, or a crutch for a novice dev?
@scottmichaud @tylerglaiel I think GC is a purely stupid idea, period. What you want, if you're going to do something...
@scottmichaud @tylerglaiel ... is a metaprogramming system that lets you generate the automatic allocators you need easily.
@scottmichaud @tylerglaiel This is what I do for my codebase. I don't understand why people spend time on GC. It's really, really dumb.
@cmuratori @scottmichaud its there for people who find "remember to 'delete()' anything you 'new()' " too hard to remember / keep track of
@tylerglaiel @cmuratori @scottmichaud professor in college: "hardest thing as a prog: MEM MNGMT! Stay away! Never do that stuff" X.x *died*
@AnthonyBarranco @tylerglaiel @scottmichaud WHHHHAAAA??? That person has no business teaching programming :/
@cmuratori @tylerglaiel @scottmichaud it gets better because it WAS a game programming class. Needless to say I wanted to leave
