My (admittedly cursory) survey of movies would suggest that visible vignetting is very rare. Why do games have it all over the place?
@cmuratori Is it very common in movies somewhere that I'm just not looking at?

@cmuratori Maybe used more in games b/c looks better in games than film, b/c covers up the fact that games projection mats worse at edgesThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori It's common, but kept very subtle. Same with bloom/glow. In games if you're spending cycles on it, better be noticeable, right? -
@joeld42@cmuratori This has been my experience too. I guess game directors still have a way to go RE how to use these types of effects.

@cmuratori It was somewhat common in old movies because of poor lenses, and in bootlegs, because it happens when filming a projected image.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori Which makes me think one might want to use it when going for an old-timey vibe, ex. The Illusionist.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori As for it's presence in games, unless they're also going for a vintage feel, I would be stumped as to its inclusion.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
