Wait, am I reading this spec right? Does Photoshop actually store all the layers _AND THEN_ also a composite of all the layers???
@TheMasterGoblin That doesn't make any sense. If they couldn't be composited quickly, then you couldn't edit the lower layers!

@cmuratori not sure really just thinking out load, mostly for loading and file preview? Also Photoshop does get pretty slow with big files. -

@TheJare@cmuratori@TheMasterGoblin It's reasonable to assume this is what things like texture projection software uses to read PSDs.
