@cmuratori Like, hopefully we can all agree that either you go C++ or you go Python/whatever, but Java? WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR CHILDREN???

@cmuratori I literally cannot think of a single reason why Java would be a good educational choice. - Show replies

@cmuratori Yep. IMO many teachers/lectures go the "easy" way of teaching Java as they either are not capable of teaching proper C/C++ 1/3 -
@cmuratori or are too lazy to go "the extra mile" of explaining pointers, memory management, etc. to students 2/3 - Show replies

@brett_douville@cmuratori java has very few sharp edges, i think it makes sense as a starter, in place of the basic we grew up with.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@brett_douville I feel so bad for today's computing children, really... they will have such a poor experience compared to what I had :( -
@brett_douville It makes me sad to think about it!!!

@cmuratori My experience is also that many teachers consider everything that is not OOP (like functional programming) as outdated/irrelevantThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
