So, does any game company actually collect sales tax properly for on-line sales? My limited research so far says resoundingly "no".

@cmuratori Interesting. Just pulled up my DOR filing for last quarter. 6.5% to for all WA sales + 3.0% because I'm in Seattle. (1 of 2)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori the Worksheet at DOR doesn't require breaking it down by county/state for each sale. Just lumped together. (2 of 2).Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori I see exactly what you mean though. http://dor.wa.gov/Docs/forms/ExcsTx/LocSalUseTx/LocalSlsUseFlyer_14_Q4_alpha.pdf … -
@boulderdrop Yeah, this is what I mean when I say I don't think anyone is actually collecting taxes properly :(

@cmuratori believe it's based on location of the business license and you collect that tax rate. Multiple locations would have diff rates. -
@boulderdrop Well, I called the Seattle office of the DOR, and they said it's based on the purchaser's address. They might be wrong, but... - Show replies

@cmuratori sure they're right. But I'm not sure the website has provisions. Seems like it would have multi "Local and Regional Tax Total" -
@boulderdrop I'll try calling Olympia tomorrow and see what they say. They're closed today for "training" :(

@cmuratori but can't test it. Funny. 13 years of doing it wrong. -
@boulderdrop The whole thing is an epic clusterfuck. Classic government nonsense :( I don't think they can blame people for doing it wrong.
