For the first time I am aware of, a game distribution service actually says that its customers _aren't_ criminals: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/gog-gamers-don-t-need-drm-because-they-aren-t-criminals/1100-6420582/ …

@tom_forsyth It's a huge pain in the ass for me. I can't backup my shit, can't copy it to a Linux machine and play under Wine... - Show replies

@cmuratori For what it's worth, that DRM is entirely optional. If a dev doesn't hook it up, the game can be run from its directory easily. -
@MOOMANiBE I suppose it is possible that I have only experienced Steam games with it turned on? - Show replies

@cmuratori I'm just waiting for release, from that day onward steam will be known for me as "the program I use to launch awesomnauts". -
@SpliterCBb I'm already GOG for everything I can GOG. So this is just a bonus. But I'd rather there be more DRM-free competition!

@cmuratori Steam's DRM wrapper is optional for devs though, right? I've never used it on Gunpoint, you can play without Steam running. -
@Pentadact@cmuratori Correct, Valve actually provides multiple levels of DRM to publishers. Even using the Steam API itself isn't DRM.
