@andrewwillmott Transitor counts on the Q6600? 582 million. The 4740K? 1.4 billion. That's not even close to 24x.

@cmuratori i.e., Moore's law says nothing about cost. Given difficulty of scaling cores due to cache/mem, affordable CPUs have fallen off. -
