@rygorous Well most of that code was doing signed 16-bit integer operations. I seem to recall the Wii/Wii-U processors don't do 8xS16?

@cmuratori It's now all 16-bit integer, actually. But they don't have any SIMD on S16 (or any S16 instrs except loads/stores, really). -
