Is there a (crypto) explanation somewhere about why TrueCrypt uses a key encrypted with the s+pwd, rather than just the s+pwd?
@rygorous Yes, but that is what I want! eg., an expl. of why a gigabyte of known plaintext is better than a kilobytes of known plaintext.

@cmuratori You mean worse? :) It's leverage. The less data you encode with a key, the harder it is to get a successful distinguisher. -
@rygorous Better for the attacker :) There should be a proof somewhere that shows weakness prop. to length of available ciphertext. - Show replies

@cmuratori Distinguisher on one block: Some p for "cryptographic break". If you have n blocks and the break is bad, you could have p^n.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@cmuratori The less blocks there are you know something about, the less data you get for e.g. Bayesian inference.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
