What is the _actual_ size of a "packet" on real backbones? Ie., bits-of-data-per-routing-decision?
@rygorous I feel like you end up spending as much bandwidth on routing as you do on data at that point, but maybe I just don't understand...

@cmuratori@rygorous From (old) memory, backbones tunnel your IP traffic through something much smaller like ATM - packets are pre-routed. -
@jasonweiler@cmuratori No, modern backbones are all-IP at this point IIRC (for data anyway, I suppose a lot of voice is still ATM)
