A full mipmap chain costs an extra 33% of memory. Keeping a separate texture for each miplevel, each with its own mipmaps, is 33% over that.

@cmuratori@rygorous@nothings GPUs have very strict layout requirements for mip levels. Otherwise switching texture is 20 addrs, not 1. -
