My lecture "Where Does Bad Code Come From?" is now available on YouTube. This was an invited presentation to @infura_io, originally broadcast as a livestream:https://youtu.be/7YpFGkG-u1w
I disagree. Readability is very quantifiable, because you can literally time people. We could easily have built into our editors and browsers some loose metrics for how long people have spent looking at pieces of code, etc.

What I mean is that this would very informal and not scientifically rigorous. You'd have to control for level of experience and familiarity with programming style, and measure the quality of the output. All of these are in turn not really quantifiable.
