My most taboo opinion: Our mental health crisis is real, vast suffering and trauma: It is substantially iatrogenic! The view thar therapists and psychiatrist are causing as much damage to mental health as doctors do to health is completely out of polite discourse.

If you'd like a more taboo opinion, you can have mine, which is this all comes from the same systemic failure: Universities cause this and many other problems by aping scientific practices in disciplines where science does not occur, leading to high confidence in fictional ideas.

I like Camus' section about this in The Rebel, where he basically says that anything calling itself a science that isn't really a science will inevitably end up just serving whatever regime is in power.

I have not read that Camus, but if that's what he said, he was completely correct, and nowhere is it more glaringly obvious than the present day.
