[1/*] Using Twitter has put reading comprehension into a very different perspective for me. I used to think reading comprehension tests were silly when I was in grade school, because they seem so easy. But I guess I took for granted the skill of understanding a paragraph of text.

[8/*] It is so frustrating that it makes me want to make a weekly show where all I do is recap what the subjects, verbs, and objects of the week's news sentences were, because apparently nobody can handle that if it gets even slightly complicated.

[9/*] Like it seems that people on Twitter can only handle one subject. Like there was a grant proposal. They could handle that. But once there were two grant proposals, that's the end of it. Their brain can't track two similar things at the same time, so it's over?

“Twitter is where people who failed reading compression end up” is the best definition ever

Could also be that they didn't read the articles, but rather a summary or headline, which itself may be based on another news story. Like a game of telephone.

A lot of these people might be manufacturing confusion on purpose. But generally, yes, reading comprehension is low. It has been pretty much forever. It is harder than a quadoatic equatihn, because people don't know to solve this either, they just know a reciepe they apply.

Probably, Twitter and similar information dispensers that exist these days do not aid in reading comprehension either.

Maybe it’s a question of taking the time to read… I think Twitter has all kinds of comprehension, it’s just that in our IRL circle some people tend to be out and twitter mixes everyone (yes I do not believe Twitter creates a bubble more than IRL)
