@cmuratori I've been loving the refterm lectures but how do you think about non-pessimization vs "premature optimization". Often doing less takes more thought so can doing less ever be "premature"?

Personally I think the concept of "premature optimization" has done more harm than good at this point. We would be in a much, much, MUCH better world at this point if people had been taught _to_ do premature optimization.

In my experience, the “it’s premature optimization” card is more times played as an excuse than in the spirit of the arguments exposed in Donald Knuth’s paper.
