Obviously, VIM (and Emacs) are antiquated conceptually, so, hopefully it would make sense why if you're looking to the future, you would not be using one of those.

Having an extendable editor with a C interface (or even a C interpreter) is a good idea. I still like the way Vim allows me to be efficient with no mouse and almost no hand movement (50% keyboard), and while antiquated, I like mode-aware editors for coding.

Yes. I sent source back to Allen to integrate which is now in the mainline, and I contributed my custom layer changes to 4coder_fleury which is now part of the standard distribution.
