Usually if you are worried about validity it means that you are providing the memory from the wrong side of the queue. The side which cares about the lifetime of the memory should issue a _read_ to the other side of the queue with the memory buffer it wishes to use.

That way, you know that nobody will ever overwrite _that_ memory buffer until you _reissue_ it back into the queue, thus preserving the lifetime on the side of the queue that cares.

I am not sure what 'the queue' is referring to here. However, in this program, data read out of the buffer is not held long term, as far as I know, so I don't think validity is a problem.
