[1/*] So, it has happened again. We tried to send out news of our Kickstarter (via SparkPost SMTP) to our 8000+ member mailing list, and GMail/Outlook helpfully sent like 50% of it to spam, according to our customers. What should we do?

[2/*] This kind of thing infuriates me, because these are people who went through the trouble of signing up for our mailing list, and we send out an e-mail only once every few months. It used to work just fine a few years ago. Now, it all goes to spam for no obvious reason.

[3/*] We'd really like to get this stuff sorted out. It's insane that this is still an infrastructure problem in 2021. Suggestions welcome.

Are you using a dedicated IP pool with your email provider? A shared one might cause poor reputation from peers to affect you

That's a good question. I assumed SparkPost would tell us about that but I don't know? I will look into it. There are no "to-dos" on our configuration page, but it may be elsewhere.

Open a GMail account. Word it carefully. Email it to you. If it lands in spam, reword it. If it goes through, start sending it in batches (automate it w/ script and oauth2). Google the limits. It could take days or even weeks but it will work.

Although I'd first sort it out with SparkPosts. Maybe they can helphttps://meta.discourse.org/t/sparkpost-emails-treated-as-spam/62648 …

Have you setup DKIM/SPF/DMARC? That can help with email reputation, but won’t fix everything.

SparkPost domain setup gives you alignment on DKIM and SPF anyway (as do other providers). It’s easy to check in your account.

Arrived, not in spam & yahoo hasn't put it in. They HAVE however put reverbnation communiques and the like there. Remembering spam assassin and the like if you can diagnose I'm sure you have, but closed spam filters? Not so sure, but good luck! And of course spam yourself to test

Looking at raw message, nothing to do with originating ip and designation of 'permitted sender' vs the mailshot domain name / ip etc? (Retired 15 years ago - I know zip)
