So one thing I hadn't thought about before was that Apple's behavior is even more ridiculous than I originally considered. By force-taking 30%, they're basically ensuring that, for example, there will be a FortFone at some point.
The subset of "I don't care about FortNite/Roblox/Match/Amazon/Spotify/etc." is going to be very, very small. My point is that if competitors got serious about this, it would be over very quickly. Apple supplies almost zero essential apps.

I see what you mean, but there's enough factors locking people into the Apple ecosystem (nearing-a-decade-old multi-gigabyte family group texts) that it wouldn't be over *very* quickly, unless all those mentioned & more pulled out of the App Store at like the exact same time.
