Framework brings some other things to the table. Specifically it is upgradeable and ports are all expansion cards that can be changed based on use case. Lack of discreet GPU options is a deal breaker for me as well, but is not important to most laptop users

i guess my bar is low :( i hate my dell xps, ive not had a hot swappable battery in years & dont miss it, and i dont need a discrete gpu; the trackpad and kb do concern me a bit, true; the swappable ports appeal a lot & repairability is the right thing to support.

Even though they're a little pricier I've had the best luck with Microsoft Surface Laptop and, surprisingly, the newer Samsung ones. I do like this idea but it's going to be hard to convince me it can do better reliability than the two I mentioned.

I guess at this moment it's an early adopter's product, or for someone that wants to support a company that is trying to do something different. It costs a lot of money to setup manufacturing but I'm hoping they will provide more options in the future if all goes well.
