Lying and covering up was a political thing in the Soviet bloc. If You live in a system where everything is close to utopia there are no mistakes and cutting corners, right?

I lived in USSR, even modern autocratic Russia is close to utopia (but censorship and lie is shit). Main problem with USSR was lie everywhere, doublethink in an action. Craiz Mazin showed it very-very close to reality, the same awful feeling about the country and the government.

We humans are exceptional at learning from past mistakes. So are our abilities to transfer knowledge from one domain to another. Rest assured something like this can never happen again.

[I know - that, among some other rather obvious repeats of the same situation, was the joke!]

I should watch it again. I particularly liked the Soviet burocrat who turns out to be brave and sensible. "Tell me how a nuclear reactor works, or I'll have you thrown out of the helicopter."
