I'm finding myself bridling at a conference that has a non-negotiable slide template for speakers; am I being unreasonable?

There's definitely value to having the "long form" writing that is shown on the slide above - but it should be in the notes to the slides that you publish with the slides, for people who can't hear the audio.

Finally, to weigh in on the original question, HELL NO you should not agree to use a slide template. Any conference that requires a slide template is just an immediate no. That's like requiring you to wear a certain outfit in order to present.
