I don't know, but I would assume this is because payment processors uniformly refuse to handle payments for a number of legitimate customers, such as sex workers. (I don't have any idea whether this is accurate or not, but at least the _current_ claim is that they were being pressured by payment processors and banking partners).

I have absolutely no idea, but if I had to guess, I would say it was "we want to be a big investory thing, and we know that we need our banking in line for that, so let's get rid of anything they want us to."
