I don't know, but I would assume this is because payment processors uniformly refuse to handle payments for a number of legitimate customers, such as sex workers. I completely agree with you. Currency is not difficult. Anyone can make it. Crypto solves nothing. It's police, courts, law, and military that are hard, and without them to back it, currency is worthless - so there there really can't be money without politics.
