I mean 99.99% of crypto nerds are just holding it via a centralized exchange anyway, not much different either way, except the exchange can get hacked and lose everything everyone has with no recourse

Crypto is literally the same as all other currency. I have no idea why anyone thinks it is different. Anyone who thinks the outcome will be anything other than a standard government-backed currency are completely delusional, and they're about to find that out.

This is trivial to understand if you think about it for even one second. What do you do when you transfer some bitcoin to AMC theaters for a movie ticket, and then they deny you entrance to the movie theater?

It's blatantly obvious that as soon as crypto is used in the real world to buy real things like groceries, houses, cars, etc., you need all the infrastructure of a government, and that means you need... the government. End of f'ing story.

Anyone who thinks the endgame of crypto isn't another government or collection thereof doesn't understand basic civics.

The hard part of currency isn't the god damn currency. The currency is trivial. The hard part of currency is military, police, courts, law. The things that make the currency _actually work in practice_ because it is backed up by some real-world enforcement mechanism.

So if one of these crypto people wants to sell me on "CryptoMilitary, CryptoPolice, CryptoCourts, and CryptoLaw", which work for buying actual groceries at the supermarket, I'm all ears. Until then, this is a gigantic waste of everyone's time, solving a complete non-problem.

There is literally not a single defi proposal that solves any of those four problems.

You would know more than me tbh! But the point is everyone in defi agrees with you, which is why there's some new defi shit coming out every day (and then getting hacked)

They "defi"nitely don't agree with me! If they did, they wouldn't be working on currency, they would be working on decentralized force monopolization :) But to be honest, I'm really pretty glad they aren't!
