Reminded of @cmuratori's term "excuse parade" for the response to the latest Signal mishap. A company that's taken $100M+ in donations for private messaging knowingly ignored a bug that was sending photos to the wrong contacts for 6+mo. Insane that people accept this.

I have known for some time that Signal's client - at least - is extremely insecure. You can tell this by how many bugs it has :) For the past three years, for example, every time it lists who is involved in a conversation, it substitutes one of the names with a random contact.

While I certainly appreciate what the Signal team is _trying_ to do, thinking that Signal is a secure messenger is just kind of a bad idea. It's not written with high standards for security, that is very obvious, and I think people should be aware of that.
