[3/4] Put the code in a separate file and compile that file n times, one for each arch, with a macro that changes the names of the function so you can pick which one you call.
It's not pretty, but, multi-arch build just isn't pretty yet because of the language :(

Yeah, I'm getting increasingly fed up with the notion of C being "low level". It is a patchwork that is not even close to being aligned with modern CPUs or programmers' needs.

In any case, we should really do our best to provide a no-setup-required version, and it seems in reach for GCC and LLVM to make it automatically fall back.
